Time to swim! The sound of water cascading from the waterfall can heal you for the entrie day. There are 3 stages to the waterfall, most people can reach the second level which is 150 meters from the first stage but not the final stage since it is deep in the thick forest.
Located 17 km from the provincial town in Poutrou Village, Sèn Monorom Commune, the Romanea Muoy Waterfall is accessible by path. Spanning 28.37 hectares, it’s managed by the Romanea Muoy Waterfall Commission with DANIDA's support and houses 71 farming families. The waterfall, 5–6 meters high and 8–10 meters wide depending on the season, has a large reservoir for swimming and shaded areas from surrounding trees. Highlights include the waterfall, scenic forests, rolling hills, and fresh air.
Located 80 km (4 hours) from Senmonorom in Mondulkiri's Pichinda District, Phnom Nam Lear Sanctuary is celebrated for its stunning scenery and rich wildlife. This key reserve features diverse bird and animal species, scenic cliffs, waterfalls, and lush greenery. It offers camping, cottage stays, and trekking tours, with travel agencies providing various options, making it a major eco-tourism attraction in Mondulkiri.
Doh Kramom Mountain, or Phnom Doh Kromom, is located approximately 2 km from Kouprey Circle in Sangkhat Sok Kdom, Senmonorom, Mondulkiri Province, Cambodia. This popular mountain destination offers stunning views of the landscape, sunsets, and sunrises. Visitors can easily access the site without the need to cross rivers or use boats, and there is convenient parking available directly at the location.
Elephants in Cambodia are endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, and snares. Historically, they were crucial in transporting heavy stones for Angkor Wat. Today, around 65 elephants are in captivity, with 20 in Mondulkiri Province. The Safari World Zoo near Phnom Penh plans to purchase and train them for performances. Wild populations number about 400, with 250 in Mondulkiri and others in the Cardamom Mountains. Increasing roads, logging, and habitat destruction in Mondulkiri threaten their survival. Visiting the Mondulkiri Project elephant sanctuary promises an unforgettable experience with these majestic animals.
The Black-shanked douc, an endangered species primarily found in the forests of Eastern Cambodia and with smaller populations in Southern Vietnam, can sometimes be spotted at the PIDA Coffee Farm Lodge. If you're fortunate, you might catch a glimpse of these rare monkeys along with other wild birds in the area.
Covering 3,000 square kilometers, Keo Seima (formerly known as Seima Protected Forest) is home to Cambodia's most diverse mammalian wildlife. The park boasts an impressive array of species, including large populations of black-shanked doucs and southern yellow-cheeked crested gibbons. Additionally, it is estimated to shelter around 115 wild elephants, which make up about a quarter of Cambodia's total elephant population, along with various bears and wild cats.
